Wilma Kay Shimer, 90, of Brownsburg, Indiana, passed away on August 31, 2026. She was born on February 2, 1936, in Moss, Tennessee.
Wilma worked at RCA for many years and was known for being hardworking, bighearted, and—by those who knew and loved her—famously stubborn. She enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time with the people she loved.
Wilma is survived by her children, Steve and Karyn McBride, Bill and Julie Leigh, and Joseph and Valerie Shimer; her grandchildren, Bill Jr., Sonseeray, Shawna, Brandon, Alexander, Logan, Scott, Jimmy, Jennifer, and Whittney; and many great-grandchildren.
Wilma’s family extended far beyond blood. Throughout her life, she “claimed” many dear friends and loved ones as her own children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her willingness to make others part of her family was a reflection of her generous heart.
She is also survived by her siblings, Junior and Bonnie. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Versie, Henry, and Naomi.
Visitation will be held on September 3, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Indiana Funeral Care West.
