Willie Pearl Bradford, lovingly known to all as Pearl, was born on September 22, 1936, in Humboldt, Tennessee, to the late Reverend Ben Bradford and Lillie Mae Bradford (Patterson). She was one of sixteen children born to this blessed and devoted union.

Pearl’s radiant smile, gentle spirit, and generous heart became her signature throughout her life. She professed her faith in CHRIST at an early age and was baptized at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Humboldt, Tennessee. During her teenage years, she joyfully expressed her devotion through music, singing in a gospel group alongside her father, her sister Lillian, and her cousin Robbie Neil. Their voices filled the Humboldt John Henry Higgs Gospel Hour radio airwaves on Sunday mornings, creating harmonies that reflected both their family bond and their shared love for GOD. Her love for the LORD remained unwavering, shaping the way she lived, served, and cared for everyone around her.

Pearl attended Phillips Elementary School from 1st through 8th grade. A proud graduate of Stigall High School, home of the Rams, Class of 1954. Pearl went on to earn her cosmetology license from the Madam White School of Cosmetology. That same year, she became an honorary member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated through the Jackson (TN) Alumnae Chapter, a testament to her intelligence, wisdom, and lifelong commitment to sisterhood, service, scholarship, and social action.

After completing cosmetology school, Pearl moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, where she built a life rooted in hard work, family, and faith. She was employed for many years at RCA as an assembly worker and later retired in 2005 from Hare Pontiac (formerly Don Sisk Pontiac).

In the mid‑1950s, Pearl joined Mount Paran Missionary Baptist Church, where she attended Sunday School faithfully and served on the Pastor’s Aide Committee. In the 1990s, Pearl united with St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, where she faithfully continued her devotion to ministry through her service on the Pastor’s Aid Committee, participation in the Day Missionary ministry, and attendance in Sunday School and Bible Study. Deeply believing in the power of education, she routinely donated to the St. Luke Scholarship Fund, joyfully supporting the dreams and futures of young people in her church community. Her devotion to her church family reflected her deep spiritual foundation and her desire to uplift others.

Pearl’s hands were rarely still. She found joy in sewing, gardening, shopping, and preparing delicious meals for her loved ones. She also took great pride in her appearance and was always impeccably dressed, often stepping out in beautifully coordinated outfits complete with matching hat, shoes, purse, and jewelry. Pearl had an eye for elegance and a talent for finding hidden treasures while thrifting, delighting in discovering great deals that complemented her timeless sense of style. She also enjoyed traveling and was blessed to visit many memorable destinations, including the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, Hoover Dam, Las Vegas, California, New Orleans, Washington D.C., Myrtle Beach, and Florida. Known for her exceptional cooking, Pearl’s potato salad, spaghetti, hot water cornbread, sweet potato and custard pies, and blackberry cobbler were cherished favorites among family and friends. Her home was a place of warmth, nourishment, and welcome, where loved ones gathered to enjoy her cooking and her company.

On Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the age of 89, Pearl peacefully transitioned from this earthly life to her eternal home. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Ronnie Bradford; brothers, George Thomas, Jonnie B. Bradford and Donnie Bradford; and sisters, Lillian Evelyn Bradford, Bennie Mae Russell, Minnie Louise Stewart, and Elsie Faye Tyler.

Pearl leaves to cherish her beautiful legacy: her son, Stevie Bradford; daughter, Yolanda Taylor (Reginald); sisters, Barbara Ann Smith (Clisby) and Doris Marilyn Tender; brothers, David Bradford (Ann) and Walter Gregory Bradford; sister‑in‑law, Rose Bradford; grandchildren, Sharlice McLin (Zedrick), Ronnie Bradford, Jr., Terrance Bradford, Ashley Wardlow, Darius Taylor, and Ayanna Taylor; twelve great‑grandchildren; three great‑great‑grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Pearl’s life was a testament to faith, resilience, and love. Her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
