William A. Claffey, affectionately known as Billy, 66, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on October 27, 2026. He was born on May 15, 1960, in St. Petersburg, Florida, to Jack Claffey Sr. and Mary E. Claffey.

Although Billy was born in Florida, Indianapolis was the place he called home. He grew up on the Southside, attended Perry Meridian High School, and remained a proud Southsider throughout his life. It was where he established his roots, made his memories, and spent his years surrounded by the people and places that were familiar to him.

Billy spent part of his working life with Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Outside of work, he enjoyed spending his time doing the things that brought him happiness. He was an avid fisherman who appreciated the chance to get outdoors and spend time near the water. Whether the fish were biting or not, fishing gave him an opportunity to enjoy one of his favorite pastimes. He was also a football fan and enjoyed following the game, especially during football season.

His appreciation for the outdoors extended to his involvement with the Conservation Club. Fishing, football, and spending time in familiar company were among the things Billy enjoyed most. He didn't need elaborate plans or grand occasions to appreciate a good day. Sometimes the best moments were simply the ones spent doing something he loved.

As someone who spent his life on the Southside, Billy had his favorite local places, including Bert and Den's Southern Pizza. The restaurant held a special place in his life and was chosen as the location for his celebration of life. It offers family and friends a familiar, welcoming place to come together, remember Billy, and share the stories and memories that made him who he was.

Family was an important part of Billy's life. His siblings, nieces, and nephews were part of the family connections that remained throughout the years. Like any family, they shared a lifetime of experiences, conversations, and memories that will continue to be remembered.

Billy is survived by his siblings, Karen S. Hale, Jack Claffey Jr., Sherry Claffey, and James E. "Jimmy" Claffey; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in passing by his parents, Jack Claffey Sr. and Mary E. Claffey.

Billy's life was one rooted in the community he knew and the things he enjoyed. From his Southside upbringing to his love of fishing and football, he leaves behind memories of a life spent doing what made him happy. Those who knew him will remember the times they shared, the conversations they had, and the moments that became part of their lives together.

A celebration of Billy's life will be held at Bert and Den's Southern Pizza. Additional details will be announced.
