William "Bill" Lewis
Barker
Jan 12, 1949 — Oct 5, 2026
Westfield, Indiana
William Lewis Barker (Bill), age 77, died at his home in Westfield, IN on October 5, 2026. He was born on January 12, 1949 in Fort Wayne, IN. He was one of six children. He attended South Side High School and participated in track as a pole vaulter. It was at South Side High School that he met his future wife, Patricia Heath. They were married in 1967 and shared 57 years together.
Bill attended St. Francis College for a year after high school following their marriage. They were then joined by their two children, Brian in 1968 and Heather in 1971. Bill was an energetic, fun-loving, involved father. He also remained a track and field enthusiast and later coached the boys track team at North Side High School for 6 years (coach Bob is what the team called him). He thoroughly enjoyed his time mentoring the boys on the team. Bill also completed his BS degree in 2000 at Goshen College while working full-time, providing for his family. Bill and Pat remained in Fort Wayne until 2002, when they moved to the Indianapolis area for his job. By that time they had been blessed with their 5 grandchildren. He was a fun-loving grandfather and enjoyed them all immensely.
After having pursued a career in sales for many years, he took a different path and became certified as a technician for coffee and tea equipment. He started his own business in 2008 - Espresso Works - and serviced equipment for Panera Bread, among other restaurant businesses.
Bill is survived by his wife, Pat, his two children, Brian Barker (Katie) and Heather Tutton, his five grandchildren, Chris Barker (Abby), Lizzie Arnold (Matt), Hadley Tutton, Grey Tutton and Hayden Tutton and his two great grandchildren, Matthew Barker and Noah Barker, as well as his sister, Ruth Schwarzbach from Naperville, IL.
The family plans a celebration of his life in Fort Wayne, IN at a later date.
