“Bill” Barnhill was born and raised in Muskegon Heights, MI. He attended Muskegon School of Business for three years and graduated with honors and worked as an assistant book keeper and stenographer at a local Machine and Die Plant while attending college. He enlisted in the US Armed Forces in 1953. After his basic training he served in the Army as a Financial Clerk and as a Courts and Boards Administrative NCO taking court martial proceedings as a stenographer.

After discharge from the Army, Bill held several jobs in Michigan plants in the accounting field. He worked as a Territory Manager for a replacement Automobile Parts Manufacturer which brought him to Indiana in 1966. He then joined Sears and Robuck Company and opened most all of the Sears store in Indiana and Kentucky until his retirement in 1994 after 23 years of dedicated service.

He was blessed with having two beautiful wives which have been deceased for over 30 years. He also is fortunate to have two adopted children which one lives in Livingston, TN and the other lives in South Carolina.

Bill spends his time going to special events at Crestwood and attending monthly meetings at the American Legion, VFW and Korean War Veteran Association. Bill has been a Post Chaplain in the past years and is currently serving as a Chaplain for the Central KWVA. 

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1pm on Monday, July 20, 2026 at Crown Hill Cemetery.
