Virginia Carol Boyer

October 15, 1950 — July 19, 2025

Virginia Carol Boyer (Brown), affectionately known as Cindy, passed away July 19, 2025 at Signature Healthcare At Parkwood at the age of 74 with her daughter by her side.

Cindy is survived by her children, David Boyer, Steven Boyer (Carolyn “Olyn” Boyer), and Julie Woods (Richard Woods); grandchildren Nicole Stoner (Nathan Stoner), Megan Woods, Lucas LaFollette, Lydia Woods, and Brantley Boyer; great grandchildren Greyson Stoner and Savannah Stoner. She was preceded in death by parents Luther Brown and Sarah Pearl Brown; sister Linda Brown; brothers Melvin Brown and Alvin Brown; husband Garryl Boyer, and daughter-in-law Dawn Boyer.

Cindy was born in Monticello, Kentucky on October 15th, 1950, the fifth of twelve children. She married Garryl Wesley Boyer in 1967 and remained his loving wife until his death in 2020. With him, she had three children — David Garryl (born January 1969), Steven Wesley (born August 1970), and Julie Ann (born May 1974). In 1976, she and her husband moved from Indianapolis to Zionsville, where they raised their children to adulthood. After becoming empty nesters, they once again relocated, this time to Lebanon, where they lived for several years before moving again to a condominium on the east side of Indy after Garryl’s mother, who had previously resided there, passed away.

During those later years, Cindy became bedridden due to complications with knee surgery, arthritis, and autoimmune disease. She was tended to by her husband until his own health struggles of advanced Parkinson’s disease and colon cancer prevented him from doing so, at which point she and her husband were moved to Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon. Five years after her husband’s death due to COVID-19, she was moved one final time to Signature Healthcare At Parkwood to receive higher quality care. Despite the hardship in her life, she remained steadfast in her faith.

Known for her natural charm, humor, and creativity, Cindy was beloved by friends and family alike. She was a natural caretaker who loved children and animals. Her interests included nature, art, music (especially country), and indigenous folklore.

In her free time, she enjoyed songwriting, poetry, shopping, walks in nature, and engaging in many hobbies her husband also enjoyed, including fishing, amateur radio, gun collecting and competitive shooting.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and fondly remembered as a warm presence in the lives of her loved ones.

She will be laid to rest Thursday, July 31st at Oak Hill Cemetery next to her adoring husband. There will be a 12:30 public visitation held at Indiana Funeral Care, followed by the funeral service at 1:00.
