“Sunshine Doesn’t Go In The Ground”

September 14, 1972 – February 14, 2023

Born to Pauletta & Joseph Hill on September 14, 1972. She was the apple of her parents eye. She was born in Indianapolis, IN, and raised in New York City, NY until the age of 10 years old. After returning to Indianapolis, she attended IPS elementary Charity Dye #27. She also attended Emmerich Manual High School. She worked for Indianapolis Public Schools transportation department for 15 years. She also worked as a Behavior Therapy Tech but the job she loved the most was her most recent experience working for PMR Companies, LLC as a star Leasing Agent. She was loved by all of the Staff and residents alike.

Mother: Pauletta Anderson; Children: Oreonna J. Howard, Jason Edward Howard Jr. (Elizabeth Brame), Nyla Aunyae Simone Pickens; grandchildren: Koda Jay Howard and Jaiyce Brame; Siblings: Laura Jimoh (Mobolaji Jimoh), Shelia Walker (Johnny Williams); Nieces/Nephews: Joy Lowe (Brian Jones), Gabrielle Lowe, Catrina Williams, KC Rogers, Tamara Walker, Brittney Walker, Alexis Walker, Demarcus Walker, Keith Rogers, Theodore Cumberland and a host of other friends and family. Let’s not forget that she will truly be missed by her tiny, beloved, well dressed dog, “Summer.” She was proceeded in death by her Father: Joseph M Hill; Grandparents: Vashti Haskins, George and Laura Smith, Siblings: Joseph Hill, Jr., Benny and Carol Walker, Pansy Walker-Whitlock and host of other relatives.

There is not one single word or phrase that could begin to describe Vashti. She was a Chris Brown loving, jazz music listening, Coach rocking, gage wearing, easygoing, sweet soul. She was born with an undescribed peace that was reflected in her unbothered personality. She loved her children and Godchildren with every fabric of her being and would defend them at all cost. She was a confidant, comforter, and friend to many. She carried a ray of sunshine that even the birds loved. To know Vashti is to love her. She may be gone but she will NEVER be forgotten.
