Thomas Allen Wortman, 73, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on June 21, 2026. Born July 9, 1952, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Tom was the son of George and Sena Wortman.
Tom built a life defined by steady devotion to those he loved and a loyalty that could be counted on in both ordinary days and difficult ones. In the ways that mattered most—showing up, staying true, and keeping his family close—he was deeply beloved. And even in life’s heavier moments, Tom’s humor had a way of bringing lightness and ease, offering others comfort through a well-timed remark and a familiar smile.
Tom worked for National Starch from 1974 to 2002. From 2002 to 2018, he was an over-the-road truck driver, a chapter of his life that carried him across 48 states and reflected his willingness to meet each mile with perseverance and purpose.
A member of Free Spirit Church, Tom held his faith close. He was also proud to be sober for 30 years, a commitment that spoke to his strength and determination. In quieter hours, he loved watching old movies and enjoyed fishing and camping—simple pleasures that brought him peace and contentment.
Tom is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sharon; children, Kelly, Joshua, Matthew (LeeAnn), Zachary (Tab), and Thomas (Tina); grandchildren, Jacob, Olivia, Jaden, Tobias, Grayson, and Addison; great-grandchildren, Iris and Raiden; and ex-wife of 19 years, Kathy Wortman. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Sena Wortman; his sister, Nancy Karess; and his brother, Richard Wortman.
Visitation will be held at Indiana Funeral Care West, 5791 Rockville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46224, on July 1, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm. A funeral service will follow at the same location on July 1, 2026, at 12:30 pm. He will be laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis.
Tom will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
