Thomas Boyd Wiggins Sr., lovingly known as Tom, passed away peacefully at home on September 1, 2026, surrounded by the people who meant the most to him. He was 79 years old:

Tom was born on August 19, 1947, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Margaret and Everett Earl Wiggins Sr. From the very beginning, he was a man who knew the value of family, hard work, loyalty, and the simple joys that make a life meaningful.

Tom worked hard throughout his life. After attending Indiana State University, he began what would become a more than 40-year career with Applied Industrial Technologies in Terre Haute. He took pride in doing his job well and in providing for the family he loved. He also proudly served for five and a half years in the United States Army Reserves.

Tom was truly a jack of all trades. There wasn't much he couldn't figure out or fix. Whether he was building something, working on a car, or repairing something around the house, he always seemed to know how to make things work again.

He also had a real talent for wheeling and dealing. He enjoyed going to garage sales, finding things he saw potential in, and then fixing them up to give them new life. He loved the challenge of finding a good deal and the satisfaction of turning something old or overlooked into something useful again. It was just part of who Tom was-he was always tinkering, fixing, creating, and finding a way to make things better.

Tom's greatest accomplishment was the life he built with his wife, Cathy. Tom and Catherine "Cathy" Ann Christian Wiggins shared more than 55 years of marriage. They grew up together, grew older together, and shared the ordinary days and extraordinary moments that make up a lifetime. Their love was woven into the everyday things they did together-the trips to McDonald's for Diet Cokes, bowling, caring for their home, watching sports, taking care of their cats and simply being beside one another. For Tom, home was wherever Cathy was.

Their marriage was a true partnership, and the life they built together was one of Tom's greatest sources of pride. After more than five decades together, there was a comfort and familiarity between them that only comes from a lifetime of shared memories, laughter, challenges, and love.

Tom was immensely proud of his children, Thomas and Michelle, but more than anything, he was simply grateful to be their dad. Being a father was one of the greatest joys of his life. He loved having his family close, and there was something special about seeing the people he loved most gathered around him.

He especially cherished watching his grandchildren, Ava, Noah, and Camden, grow. Their smiles, their laughter, their stories, and even the little everyday moments brought so much joy to his heart. He treasured the time he had with them, and those memories will forever be a part of the love he left behind.

Tom never needed anything extraordinary to make a day feel special. To him, some of the best moments were the simplest ones-having family together, sharing a conversation, sitting down for a visit, laughing about something silly, watching a game on television, or simply being at home with the people he loved. Those ordinary moments were never ordinary to Tom. They were the moments that meant the most. Those who knew him will remember not only how deeply he loved his family, but how deeply loved he was by them.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Catherine Wiggins of Greenwood, IN; his son, Thomas (Andrea) Wiggins Jr. of Indianapolis, IN; and his daughter, Michelle (John) Culpepper of Greenwood, IN; his grandchildren Ava, Noah, and Camden Culpepper; his brothers, Victor (Rosemary)Wiggins Sr. of Terre Haute, IN; Perry Wiggins of Terre Haute, IN; his sister-in-law, Polly Wiggins of Spring Hill, FL; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom were part of the family circle he cherished.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Wiggins; his father, Everett Wiggins Sr.; and his brother, Everett Wiggins Jr.
