With deep sorrow, the death of Tom Wantz on February 5, 2026, is shared with those who loved and knew him. Tom passed at home under hospice care at the age of 80 years old. During World War II, Thomas Lee Wantz was born to Herbert M. Wantz and Doris Ellen Wantz at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, on October 30, 1945.
On January 6, 2001, He married Charlene (Seavers) as his beloved wife. They shared 25 years together. Tom graduated from Lawrence Central High School, Class of 1963. Tom is a graduate of Indiana University, Indianapolis. He had great pride in IU sports. He was very excited that the IU Football Team won the National Championship this year. He was very proud of his National Champions shirt. Tom enjoyed working for Johnson County REMC in Franklin, IN as a Financial Controller.
Tom is survived by his wife, Charlene, and his sister Maureen Wantz Metcalf, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and great, great nieces and a great, great nephew.
Tom was preceded in death by both parents, his first wife, Andrea Wantz (Klepfer), and all of his Aunts and Uncles.
Tom was known for his kindness, sense of humor, and love for his family, including 17 cousins on the Wantz side. Tom held all family and friendships very near to his heart. He organized meetings for high school classmates often for breakfast and he also enjoyed the two Bible Studies that he attended. His warm greetings and big hugs will be missed. Many wonderful memories and his stories will be cherished.
The funeral service will be held on February 14, 2026 at 1:00 pm First Church of the Nazarene 9401 E. 25th Street Indianapolis, IN 46220 Calling from 10:00 am until1:00 pm.
