Thomas A. Jordan was born on September 3, 1933, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Neva and William Jordan. He was the youngest of six brothers and sisters. Tom lived a full life and passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025.
Tom studied building and technical subjects at Purdue University. After that, he served in the US military during the Korean War and later worked at White Sands Proving Grounds in New Mexico. Eventually, he returned to Indianapolis and spent many years working for Union Carbide. Some of the important projects he worked on included developing jet engines and protective coatings for the B1 bomber and the space shuttle.
Tom enjoyed helping others and dedicated time to the Boy Scouts of America. He held several leadership roles, including being a guide at Philmont Ranch and taking care of Camp Belzer. After retiring, Tom volunteered at the Indiana State Museum, working in the geology archives.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews: Russell Smith of Detroit, Michigan; Vicki Limbaugh of Bridgeton, Missouri; David Jordan of Indianapolis, Indiana; and Debra Zawlocki of Aberdeen, North Carolina.
Funeral service will be held on Good Friday, April 3, at noon at Indiana Funeral Care in Greenwood, Indiana. Tom will be laid to rest at Fairland Cemetery in Fairland, Indiana.
