Thomas Lee Billington, 71, known to many as Tom, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, in Greenwood, Indiana. Born on June 29, 1954, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Tom lived a life marked by dedication to his family, career, and country.
Tom was a proud and honorable veteran, having served four years in the U.S. Navy. During his service, he was stationed on both a submarine and a ship as a mechanic, earning numerous awards that reflected his commitment, skill, and character. His honorable discharge in February 1977 marked the conclusion of a distinguished chapter in his life.
Following his military service, Tom embarked on a remarkable career in the saw industry. He applied his expertise with Kaltenbach Saws, Hem Saws, and Elumatec Saws, before joining Tsune America in August 2005. There, he worked diligently until his retirement in July 2020. His professional journey was defined by both service and sales of saws, fostering lasting friendships and numerous travel experiences along the way.
Above all, Tom was a devoted family man. He cherished time spent with his beloved wife, Debra Billington, and their daughters, Alyssa Striby and Haley Cabrera,as well as their families. Tom’s fondness for family vacations was evident in the many road trips he and Debbie undertook across the nation. They were fortunate to explore many National Parks, with Glacier and Yellowstone among his favorites. His love of the outdoors was coupled with a passion for discovering interesting places—whether restaurants in Indiana or state parks—always accompanied by his wife and daughter's. His granddaughter's, Isabella Jade Cabrera, and Zoe Kai Cabrera held a special place in his heart.
Tom and Debbie would have celebrated 48 years of marriage in November 2026, a testament to their enduring bond and partnership. His dedication to his family was unwavering and formed the cornerstone of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Billington; daughters, Alyssa Striby (Dave Mann) and Haley Cabrera (Dan Dark); granddaughters, Isabella Jade Cabrera and Zoe Kai Cabrera; and siblings, Donna (Butch) Brown, Nikki (John) Templeton, and Butch Miller.
Tom was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Billington; mother, Mary (O’Neal) Billington Miller; stepfather, Victor Miller; and sister, Carol Cogdill.
Thomas Lee Billington’s legacy is one of honor, dedication, and love—qualities evident in his military service, his career, and especially in the lifetime of memories he created with his family. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
