Susan Kay Shimer

Susan Kay (Gernhardt) Shimer of Avon, Indiana passed away peacefully July 22, 2022.

Sue was born October 4th, 1945, to Walter J. and Florence Gernhardt in Bloomington, Indiana. She graduated from North Central HS. Class of 1963 and went on to pursue a 30-year career in the dental industry.

Sue is survived by her husband of 48yrs Harry Shimer and her daughter Alicia (Carrie) Reul, her stepchildren Cynthia (Steve) Dinsmore and Robert (Bridget) Shimer and her sister Carole (Charlie) Johnson and her brother Dennis (Jeanne) Gernhardt. Sue was a proud grandmother to her grandchildren Joshua (Blake) Mitchell and Cameron (Nicole) Mitchell, As well as her 5 great grandchildren. 

She is proceeded in death by her parents Walter and Florence Gernhardt, sister Jane (Harvey) Black, brother Walter (Susan) Gernhardt.

Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure! 

Visitation for Sue will be on Friday, July 29th at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Rd, from 4-7 pm. Funeral services will be on Saturday July 30th 11am at Oak Lawn Cemetery 9700 Allisonville Rd.
