Susan E. Price

Susan Price, age 76, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, July 26, 2026. She leaves behind a lifetime of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.

Susan was born on February 15, 1950, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, to John and Gertrude Sweeney. Susan’s life was filled with friendships she formed in childhood, during her during her nursing school years, and throughout her nursing career. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—cheering on IU basketball, spending hours tending to her yard, visiting the New Jersey shore, bowling with friends, sewing, reading, and enjoying a competitive game of Scrabble. Susan had a special way of making every moment meaningful.

Susan dedicated her life to caring for others. She began her nursing career by proudly serving as an Operating Room Nurse in the United States Army from 1971 to 1973. After her military service, she continued her calling as a nurse with Community Health, working in the Heart Hospital and Surgery Center. Her compassion and dedication will be remembered by both patients and co-workers.

Above all else, Susan’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her brothers, Dennis Sweeney and Mike Sweeney and their families; her beloved children, Kevin (Samantha) Price, Kimberly Witkemper, and Alison (John) Stanovich; and her treasured grandchildren, Abby, Alexandra, Rowan, Molly, Emerson, Triston, and Ethan. She loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and activities, and had immense pride and unconditional love for each of them.

Memorial visitation will be Friday, July 24, 2026 from 2:00 pm until 3:30 pm at Indiana Funeral Care, Greenwood Chapel, 2433 E. Main Street, Greenwood, IN 46143. 

Celebration of life will begin at 3:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Susan’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, whose commercials often moved her to tears.https://www.stjude.org/donate

Those we love never truly leave us. They live on in every story we tell, every lesson they taught us, and every act of kindness inspired by their love. Susan’s light will shine in our hearts forever, until we meet again.
