Listen to Obituary

It is with deep sadness and great love that the family of Susan DeLane Phillips announce her passing on March 2, 2026, in Indianapolis, IN at the age of 69. Susan was born in Indianapolis to the late Martin B. and Mary Elizabeth (Cundiff) Phillips.

After graduating from Ben Davis High School, Susan attended Indiana University School of Nursing to receive her degree in nursing and later a master’s degree.

Upon graduation she held positions at several different hospitals including IU Medical Center, Methodist Hospital and Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana. She also worked as a Case Manager for Anthem.

Susan was a joy to be around with her sense of humor, infectious laugh, beautiful smile. A devoted dog and cat lover, she adopted many pets throughout her life that she treasured. Susan loved flowers especially pink peonies, enjoyed collecting Longaberger baskets and Boyd’s figurines and loved vacationing in Wisconsin. As a child, she loved bubble baths which culminated in her siblings fondly nicknaming her “Suds.” That nickname stayed with her through her entire adult life.

Susan is survived by her sister Linda Phillips, brother Marty Phillips (Michele) and Robert Phillips; nieces Kimberly Sain-King (Robert) and Crystal Phillips; nephews William (Buddy) Sain (Angela) and Bryce Phillips (Caitlin); great-nephew Christian King; great-nieces Ashley, Kayla, Taylor Sain, and Cora Bolser; great-great nephew Malakai.

Suds, we all love you very much and will miss you every day. Rest in peace.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
