Susan Kay Hartman, lovingly known as Susie, passed away peacefully at her home on June 13, 2026, surrounded by her family. Born on April 21, 1963, in Greenfield, Indiana, Susie was a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, and great-aunt whose warmth and spirit touched all who knew her.
Susie devoted much of her life to public service, working diligently for the State of Indiana. Her commitment to her career reflected her deep sense of responsibility and dedication to her community. Beyond her professional life, she was an avid sports fan with a passionate following for Notre Dame football, the Chicago Cubs, IndyCar, and NASCAR racing. Her enthusiasm for these sports was well known among family and friends, often bringing people together to share in her excitement and joy.
She is survived by her beloved sister Jean (Barry) Baker, sister Judy (Kim) Wieneke, and brother Gary (Pam) Hartman. Susie also leaves behind a loving extended family that includes her nieces Sarah (Ryan) Gilliam and Kayleigh (Eric) Graul, nephews Greg (Ashley) Russell, Gary (Lindsay) Hartman, Jake Wieneke, and Kyle (Maddie) Wieneke, as well as her great-nieces Katie Gilliam, Kylie Gilliam, Abbie Gilliam, Penelope Russell, Violet Russell, and Abbie Wieneke, along with great-nephews Alex Graul, RJ Gilliam and Carson Wieneke. Their lives were greatly enriched by Susie's presence, and her legacy of love and devotion continues through them.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Gretchen Hartman. Their memory lives on in her and the family they nurtured.
Susie’s life was marked by kindness, loyalty, and an enduring love for her family and the sports she adored. Her vibrant spirit and gentle nature will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
