Stephen (Steve) Peyton Glass, 76, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully of natural causes surrounded by his loving family.
Steve was born on March 6, 1950, in Fort Collins, Colorado, to Rankin Robert Glass and Jessie May Glass (Moss). A proud veteran, he served his country with distinction of 20 years in the United States Army attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class (E-7) before his retirement in 1989. Throughout his career, he served in the Vietnam War and was the recipient of a Bronze Star Medal along with numerous other awards and commendations. Amongst his peers he earned the nickname “Doc G” as he could fix anything. Following his military service, Steve worked as a hydraulic engineer.
On March 9, 1968, Steve married the love of his life, Kathy Elaine Glass. Together they shared fifty-two wonderful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and creating cherished family memories. Twenty of those years were spent traveling around the world. Kathy preceded him in death.
Steve was a talented and creative man who enjoyed drawing and painting and was especially musically inclined. He loved watching westerns and was well known for his sense of humor and his ability to tell a good dirty joke that could make everyone laugh.
Steve will be remembered for his service, creativity, humor, and deep love for his family. At times he could be a gruff old man, but he always managed to light up the room. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his four children: Kim (Mike) Levine, Jenny (Keiffer) Tabor, Steven (Kelly) Glass, and Tammie Hair. He also leaves behind nine beloved grandchildren: Emily, Ashley, Adam, Dalton, Sara, Roxanna, Andrew, Lexi, and Seth; as well as six great-grandchildren.
Forever in our hearts. We love you Pops.
