Stephen Michael Cory, a cherished father, loving papaw, brother, and devoted friend, passed away on November 22, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana, at the age of 78. Born in Indianapolis on August 26, 1947, Stephen filled the lives of those around him with warmth, kindness, and an unwavering spirit.
Stephen is survived by his beloved children, Robert Cory (Amanda), Daniel Cory, Ron Walden (Brandy), and Kim Jones (Tim). He took great pride in his family, enjoying the joys of fatherhood and the laughter of 19 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Stephen also leaves behind his brother, William Anweiler, along with many nephews and nieces who will fondly remember him.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Terri Cory, whose absence left a void in his heart. Stephen is also preceded in death by his parents, Lourien Anweiler and Rolland Cory, and his siblings, Carol, Georgene, and Claude, all of whom he held dear.
Stephen was known for his passion for the outdoors. Whether it was fishing at his favorite spot, affectionately dubbed his "honey hole," or spending time in his garden where he cultivated a variety of flowers, fruits, and vegetables, he truly found peace and joy in nature. An avid sports fan, he supported his beloved Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Pacers with fervor, sharing those moments with family and friends. Barbeques and family gatherings held a special place in his heart, reflecting his love for both food and the company of loved ones. His favorite dining spot, Red Lobster, knew him well and was a place where many precious memories were shared.
A visitation to celebrate Stephen's life will take place on December 1, 2025, from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM at Indiana Funeral Care - Greenwood Chapel, located at 2433 E. Main St., Greenwood, IN 46143. This will be followed by a funeral service that will begin at 5:00 PM, allowing family and friends to come together to honor and reflect on the beautiful life he lived.
Stephen Michael Cory’s legacy will continue through the lives he touched, and he will be remembered with love and respect by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
