South L. Miller, 70, of Fishers, IN passed away peacefully Friday, December 29, 2023 at home surrounded by loved ones. He was born January 25, 1953 to South and Jean Miller. South was the fifth child out of seven children, three preceded him in death. Surviving siblings Billy Ford, Roy Copeland and Raymond Miller. Preceded in death were Bobby Ford, Priscilla Sloan and Donnie Miller.
He is survived by his wife Martha of 41 years; daughters Melissa Mosley (Chris), Laura Edwards and Janet Perez (Carlos); 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. South was a loving husband, father and grandfather that loved this family dearly. He loved family gatherings, spending time with family gave him some of the greatest joy in life, and the more people he was surrounded by, the happier he was.
South was a Boilermaker at Amtrak in Beech Grove, Indiana for 27 years. His commitment and work ethic were exceptional, earning him respect and admiration of his colleagues. He would even cook meals for different events and the night shift employees all the while doing his job, such as roast beef, potatoes, pork chops, fried taters and cabbage, all of which earned him deep affection. He was seen by his fellow colleagues as a skilled craftsman and one that anyone could come to rely on.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Indiana Funeral Care, located at 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46250 on January 13, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM. We will go to Oaklawn Memorial Gardens for graveside services following the funeral service.
