Sidney Lee Fielden passed away peacefully at his home in Indianapolis, Indiana, on February 8, 2026, at the age of 72. His final days were spent surrounded by the warmth, laughter, and comfort of family.

Born on March 30, 1953, in Seattle, Washington, Sid was the son of Lowell Westel Fielden and Beatrice Mae (Dunham) Fielden. He grew up in a lively home alongside his three siblings — Linda, Zora, and Clifford. His early years were filled with the continuous energy of a large family, sibling rivalries, and countless shared memories.

Following high school graduation in 1971, Sid enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Over the next two decades, he built a distinguished military career that took him across the globe, with duty stations in California, Georgia, Hawaii, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and Virginia. Known for his quiet resilience, unfaltering work ethic, and fierce loyalty, Sid embodied the true spirit of "Semper Fidelis" — Always Faithful — in every aspect of his life. A natural leader and dedicated mentor to his fellow Marines, he rose through the ranks to retire as a Gunnery Sergeant in 1992. His profound guidance lives on today through the countless young service members he coached and inspired.

It was during his time at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Barstow, California, that Sid met Angela Jean Banky. Their meeting blossomed into a deep, enduring love that led to their marriage on August 28, 1988, starting a beautiful 37-year journey of mutual devotion and shared dreams.

Post-military, Sid continued his service to the nation through a second distinguished career as a civil servant for the Department of Defense. His civilian assignments spanned California, Colorado, Indiana, and Maryland, bringing his total legacy of public service to over four decades. This lifelong dedication serves as a proud testament to a career defined by duty, honor, and patriotism.

Beyond his professional success, Sid lived a deeply fulfilling life filled with memorable journeys and simple everyday pleasures. He and Angie traveled extensively with family, building memories that will be cherished for a lifetime. Whether exploring major destinations across the United States or venturing to distant corners of the globe, Sid loved immersing himself in the culture and beauty of new places, turning every trip into an unforgettable adventure. Yet, regardless of where his travels took him, he was equally content lost in the pages of a science fiction novel, watching his favorite shows on TV, catching a movie at the theater, eating at a favorite restaurant, or simply enjoying a quiet evening at home.

To family, Sid was a steady anchor of love and a constant source of wisdom. His friends and colleagues knew him as a man of integrity — someone whose presence was as respected as it was appreciated. He moved through the world with a quiet kindness that touched many, leaving behind a legacy of light that will continue to shine through everyone fortunate enough to have known him.

Sid is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Angie; sisters, Linda Koehler and Zora Carter-Stevenson; father-in-law, Eugene Banky; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Regina and Brodric Priest; and nephew, Michael Wise. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Beatrice Fielden; his brother, Clifford Fielden; and his mother-in-law, Martha Banky.
