Shirley Lawrence, 86, passed away on April 27, 2024 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Shirley was born in Stay, Kentucky on September 2, 1937 to Rose Gambrel and Jim Bowman. She became a resident of Indianapolis in the 1960s. Shirley worked for the Secretary of State, Great West Life Assurance Company, Indiana State Police and 36 years at the Indiana Credit Union League, retiring as Director of Corporate Relations in 2003.

Shirley enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, often vacationing with them, playing card games, and attending their events. She often took them to lunch and even included their friends. Shirley enjoyed walking on the beach, but did not like being in the water. She enjoyed spending time outside on her patio overlooking the lake, but hated the geese that came every summer. She also enjoyed shopping, gardening, and serving her church family in various ways including handing out bulletins on Sunday mornings and staffing the reception desk during the week. She was a member of East 91st Street Christian Church where she had many friends and attended many Bible studies throughout her retirement.

Shirley is survived by her son Kevin (Michelle) Lawrence, and her grandchildren Megan Morris, Ashley Lawrence, and Jacob Lawrence.

Her family would like to thank the staffs at Traditions of North Willow and Heartland Hospice for the care they provided for Shirley.
