Sherry Marie Spillane

Sherry Marie Spillane, a beloved matriarch and cherished member of her family, passed away on June 9, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on September 15, 1947, in Indianapolis, Sherry lived a life marked by love, kindness, and an unwavering dedication to those around her.

Sherry was known for her loving, considerate, and generous spirit. Always willing to lend a hand and provide support, she was a comforting presence to family and friends alike. Her warmth and kindness touched many lives, and she was celebrated for her deep commitment to her loved ones.

A passionate traveler and adventurer, Sherry cherished the times spent camping in the RV and travel trailer with her family over the years. These moments of togetherness were among her most treasured memories, reflecting the importance she placed on family bonds. She married Don Spillane May 26, 1969 and she frequently referred to him as the love of her life and her soulmate. She delighted in caring for her nephews, often taking them shopping and ushering them through their adventures with a playful affection. One fond memory recounts how she would tell her nephew, “Ok, let’s go we got more shopping to do,” to which he would reply, “Oh no Shay Shay,” capturing the special, lighthearted relationship they shared.

Sherry's family was central to her life. She is survived by her devoted husband, Don Spillane; her children, Randy Spillane and Dony Spillane Jr.; and her grandson, Matthew Spillane. Additionally, she is remembered fondly by her sister-in-law, Linda Buchanan, and many nieces and nephews who will carry forward her legacy of love and laughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Jacqueline Buchanan; her son, Ricky Lee Buchanan; and her siblings Gregory, Randy, Rosie, Donna, and Penny. Their memories live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

Services to honor and celebrate the life of Sherry Marie Spillane will be held at Indiana Funeral Care - Greenwood Chapel, located at 2433 E. Main Street, Greenwood, Indiana. Visitation will take place on June 17, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., followed immediately by a memorial service from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Family, friends, and all whose lives were enriched by Sherry’s kindness are welcome to gather, remember, and pay their respects.

Throughout her life, Sherry exemplified love, generosity, and the true meaning of family. Her spirit remains a guiding light for those who knew her, inspiring all to embrace life with compassion and an open heart. Her legacy will live on in the stories shared, the lessons taught, and the love so freely given.
