Sherri Louise Grady

February 9, 1956 — May 14, 2025

Indianapolis

Sherri Louise Grady was born to Treva E Grady and Arthur M Grady on February 9, 1956, in Indianapolis, IN. She was the eldest daughter but the second born. Born and raised in Indianapolis, Sherri spent her entire life in the city she loved and served. She dedicated over 30 years to her work as a certified home health aide, caring for patients with the same devotion and tenderness she gave her own family. Her career was more than just a job—it was a calling and a beautiful representation of her character. She brought comfort, dignity, and kindness to everyone in her care, leaving behind a legacy of service that will not be forgotten.

Sherri was the embodiment of fierce independence and heartfelt generosity. She was strong, steadfast, and selfless, always putting others before herself. Whether she was working long hours or standing firm in her beliefs, Sherri did everything with determination and love. She was known for her warm, welcoming kitchen where the scent of her home-cooked meals filled the air and brought people together. Feeding others wasn’t just about food – it was her way of showing love.

Her laughter could light up a room, and her presence offered comfort, especially during difficult times. She was a source of strength and stability for her family – someone you could always count on. Despite facing challenges throughout her life, Sherri met them all with grace and unwavering resolve. She spoke life into her friends and family with every interaction. Whether she was dancing on the dance floor or cracking a joke, Sherri was the life of the party and marched to the beat of her own drum, her personality shined brightly.

She is survived by her two beloved sisters, Myra Bishop and Vickie (Rick) McConniughey; her three cherished daughters, Lakita (Willie) Thompson, Venita Grady, and Amani Grady; eight grandchildren and her best friend Trina (Ronnie) Anderson, who were the pride of her life and one treasured great-grandson; and a host of extended family and friends. Her legacy lives on through them – the lessons she taught, the stories she told, and the love she gave so freely.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents and her older brother, whose memory she held close to her heart. Those who knew Sherri will remember her strength, her warmth, and her remarkable ability to make everyone around her feel seen, loved, and cared for. She gave so much to so many, and her absence will be felt deeply—but her spirit, her stories, and her love will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew her.
