Sharon Kay Livingston, 78 of Indianapolis passed away Thursday, November 14th at home surrounded by her family and friends.
Sharon was born on August 3, 1946, in Indianapolis to Virginia Crombie. She lived in or around Indianapolis all her life. As many young people do, she found love early in life and at the age of 16 she married Richard Livingston, and they were married for 16 years. Together they had two sons whom she loved very much. During that time also had a son with William 'Rebel' Holland.
If you've had a husband, you know they are not always easy to live with. Richard was a hard man to be married to, so hard, that Sharon eventually took a different direction in life and met her first partner in life, Sharon Miller. A few years into their relationship, Sharon wanted another child so she and Rebel had a daughter, but Sharon remained with Sharon Miller for 15 years. Sharon loved working for Wayne Township Schools as a bus driver and attended Metropolitan Community Church until its closure.
On June 6th, 1990, Sharon committed herself to Judith "Judy" Saunders. Sharon and Judy loved camping just about anywhere, but particularly with their Tribe down at the Lothlorien Nature Sanctuary. They went to Vegas after winning tickets from the Bob and Tom Show, visiting amazing sights like the Hoover Dam. They've been known to visit a drag show or two, taking their time driving to Florida and seeing their family. Sharon liked to take the scenic route on trips (setting the GPS to avoid highways) and in life.
Life was a trip, and hers was the road less traveled. Not always easy, Sharon was always there for her family. Survivors include her life partner, Judy; sisters, Rolleen of Mooresville, and Lynn (Buddy) of Largo, FL; brother, Rollin 'Jr' (Debbie) of Indianapolis; daughter, Shannon (Matt) Doughty of Avon; and sons, David and James (Kathy) Livingston both of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Amanda, Bonnie Kay, David Jr., Katie, Tierra, Alyssa, Savannah, Christopher, Zane, Xavier, Cayden, and Wrigley; and nine great-grandchildren, Kendra, Richard, Tiny Tim, Adriana, Danielle, Jasmien, Dallas, Heaven, and Alice.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert (Bobby) Fritz Jr.; and her beloved son Allen whom was murdered by the notorious serial killer, Herb Baumeister. Sharon kept her home phone and held out hope he would one day call. Unfortunately, on October 17th, 2023, she got a different call, one she had hoped to have never received, the news that Allen's remains had been discovered. He was laid to rest on August 29th, 2024, and Sharon was able to finally have closure. Knowing where Allen was, it wasn't long before Sharon joined him on the other side. While the family mourns their losses, they also take peace in knowing Sharon and Allen have been reunited.
Family will gather for a final farewell to the traveler, Sharon Kay Livingston on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. and friends will join them at 5:00 p.m. with a memorial service starting at 7:00 p.m., celebrating and commemorating Sharon's life and legacy at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Rd. 46250.
Memorial contributions in her honor can be made to the Indy Humane Society, 7929 Michigan Rd, Indianapolis, Indiana 46268 or Down Syndrome Indiana at https://dsindiana.org/donate/ or to He Knows Your Name, the organization that dedicated Allen's memorial at 5999 E. 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46250.
