Sharon graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1956 where she was very popular! As recently as February, 2024, she was still meeting her “Tech friends” for lunch. She loved all things Tech! She went on to attend Indiana University where she earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education.
The most significant moment in her life is when she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior in 1969, a decision that altered the entire trajectory of her life going forward. That same year, she married Joseph Henry Kelly on November 25, 1969. They welcomed their one and only daughter, Shannon on September 29, 1970. They were married for 46 years when Joe passed away in March, 2016. Sharon was a devoted mother and enjoyed her years at home with Shannon.
Through the years Sharon was involved with various Bible studies and church groups. For several years, she volunteered her time with an ESL group at Faith Missionary Church where she was an active member. She was also a beloved “Gammer” to three grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Shannon Kelly Klopfenstein, grandsons Erich Klopfenstein, Barrett Klopfenstein, Sean Klopfenstein and many dear friends she truly considered family.
A celebration of life service will take place at Faith Missionary Church on Tuesday, May 28 at 11:30 a.m. Visitation will take place beginning at 10:00 a.m. 9125 N. College Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46240.
