Sanford Eurie McDowell

October 14, 1942 — February 8, 2024

Noblesville

Sanford Eurie McDowell, 81, of Noblesville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, February 8th at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was born on October 14, 1942 in Jonesboro, Indiana. He married Shirley Kay Norris on June 1, 1968.

Sanford graduated from Marion High School in 1961. He lived in Wheat Ridge, Colorado for a time, but lived in Indiana most of his adult life, in Liberty and Muncie. He worked at and retired from Square D Company in Oxford, Ohio. Sanford was an active member of Liberty Church of Christ and Harvest Christian Church.

He enjoyed many activities in his spare time, the most of which included watching movies of all kinds and the popcorn he always ate with them. If you were ever looking for a specific movie he probably had it in his collection. Sanford also started hosting movie nights when he and Shirley moved to Five Star Residences in Noblesville a year and a half ago. He traveled for many years, visiting all fifty states and nine countries. His favorite was a trip to Israel and finally getting to see Masada. Sanford was a very creative person, painting, doing craft projects and working with flowers. He continued to be very active at their new home, playing bingo, euchre and visiting with his Coffee and Chronicles friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; his three sons, Anthony (Eva-Katrine) Miller, Steve (Heather) McDowell, Scott (Adrienne) McDowell; and six grandchildren, Noelle (Alex), Sarah, Seth, Hannah, Carter and Jordan and his beloved cat, Boots.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Helen McDowell; and his three siblings, Gracia, William and Robert.

A memorial service will be on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Hamilton Hills Church, 10293 E. 126th St, Fishers, IN at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to the memorial service from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the service at the church. (Please use the Worship Center entrance.)

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Transitions Care Hospice Indianapolis, 8435 Keystone Crossing, #108, Indianapolis, IN 46240.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Five Star Residency of Noblesville and Transitions Care Hospice for offering such exceptional care of Sanford during his time with them.
