Sandra “Sandy” Lyn Martin, 69, of Greenwood, Indiana, passed away in her home on November 8, 2025, having found comfort and rest after many years, and surrounded by her loving family.
Sandy was born on March 29, 1956, on the eastside of Indianapolis, where she lived for most of her life before retiring and relocating to Greenwood to be closer to her family. Sandy graduated from Scecina Memorial High School, where she made many lasting memories, and fostered her lifelong love of music through her involvement in the marching band.
Sandy is survived by her beloved daughter, Meghan (Jason) Dick, and dearest granddaughters, Adria and Annabel, as well as her siblings and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, Betty and Jack Martin, and little brother, Ricky Martin.
Sandy will be remembered for her unwavering strength and resilience, traits that those who knew her best might fondly describe as a touch of stubbornness. Beneath that tough outer shell, however, was a deeply caring and charitable spirit. She was a fixer by nature, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Sandy’s proudest accomplishment was raising her daughter as a single mother, and her happiest moments were spent doting on her granddaughters. Sandy adored her kitty cats and relished in spoiling them. She loved gardening and spending time in nature. She was an avid reader and enjoyed a career that included time as a librarian. A self-proclaimed Facebook blogger, Sandy found tremendous joy in connecting with her online community and friends, sharing memes, and engaging in lively debates (especially about politics).
Sandy made friends wherever she went, cherishing each connection throughout the many stages of her life. Above all, she treasured the lifelong friendships she shared with her close-knit group of grade school girlfriends.
Sandy lived a life that touched many, and she will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
