Sandra Louise Bennett, 72, of Crawfordsville, Indiana, took the hand of her Savior on July 23, 2025, after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Born on September 14, 1952, in Battle Creek, Michigan, Sandra was the daughter of Robert and Doris Collins McKeighen. For the first 18 months of her life, she lived on her grandparent's dairy farm while her father served in the military. This farm would forever hold a special place in her heart, remaining her favorite place throughout her life. From an early age, Sandy's musical talent shone through as she played the piano, often delighting her children with her melodies.
Alongside her first husband, Perry N. Williams, Sandy owned and operated Williams Grocery in Hollandsburg, Indiana. She also owned and operated Sandy's Ceramics for several years. After Perry's passing and the closure of the grocery, Sandy continued to serve her community in various roles. She worked at the Rockville Soda Shoppe, provided night call customer service for Rockville REMC, and served as the church secretary for Otterbein United Methodist Church. Later, she dedicated many years as a Customer Service Manager (CSM) at the Greencastle Walmart.
Sandy was an active member of the Rockville Aglow and an accomplished seamstress, creating beautiful banners for both the Otterbein Church and Aglow. Her creative spirit extended to cooking, singing, painting ceramics, cross-stitching, and crocheting. She found immense joy in reading and spent countless hours studying scripture, answering a call to intercessory prayer.
Sandra is lovingly remembered by her children: Perry (Selina) Williams of Winchester, Kentucky, Crista (Harlan) Miller of Rockville, Indiana, and Casie (Jeffery) Lahr of Danville, Indiana. She was a cherished grandmother to Angelica (JJ) Hughes of Jasper, Indiana, and Gabriel (Kennedy) Williams, Samuel Williams, and Riley Williams, all of Winchester, Kentucky. Sandra also leaves behind her devoted sisters, Lori (Dick) Chadd, Terri McKeighen, and Jackie (Dan) Hayden, along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Her first great-grandchildren are expected in December and January. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Perry Williams, and her second husband, Jackie Bennett, both of Rockville, Indiana, her parents, Robert and Doris McKeighen, her brother Bob (Julie) McKeighen and sister Sheri McKeighen Carrell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Putnam County Hospital Cancer Center, 1542 South Bloomington Street, Greencastle, Indiana 46135. Please note 'Sandra Bennett' in the memo section.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled, with details to be shared when finalized
