Samuel C. Moore II, born on August 13, 1940, in Panama City, Panama, peacefully passed away on January 22, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication.
For over 50 years, Samuel owned and operated Samuel Moore Painting Contracting, where he provided exceptional services for both residential and commercial properties. His craftsmanship and commitment to quality earned him respect and recognition within the painters' community, which he cherished throughout his career.
Samuel was a private man, known for his unwavering support of his family. His grandchildren adored him, lovingly referring to him as Papa or Papa Sam. He took great joy in cooking for his family, and they delighted in sharing meals made from his favorite recipes. In addition to his culinary skills, Samuel had a deep passion for aviation, proudly holding a private pilot's license. His love for flying was matched only by his enjoyment of fishing and spending cherished moments with his family.
In April, Samuel and his beloved wife, Janice D. (Coffey) Moore, would have celebrated 51 years of marriage. Together, they created a warm and loving home, nurturing their children - Samuel C. Moore III, Jennifer R. Moore, Bonnie J. Walton, Samantha E. Whitings (Cody), and Barbra M. Smith (Daren) - all of whom carry forward his values and spirit.
Samuel's pride extended to his grandchildren: Zachary Christmas, Joshua Moore, Nicholas Ramage, Ayla Spratt (Brock), Fiona Smith, Laurel Smith, and Julian Smith, along with his great-grandson, Apollo Spratt. He leaves behind a beloved sister, Lena Escandon, and many nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.
A devoted member of the Indianapolis Southside Seventh Day Adventist Church for over 50 years, Samuel was deeply committed to doing God's work and was well-loved by his church community.
He now joins his late son, Seth Adam Moore, and his parents, Willard Franklin and Hilda Maria (Martinez) Moore, as well as his siblings, Franklin Moore, Bonnie Smith, and Jennie Perez, all of whom he held dear in his heart.
Samuel C. Moore will be remembered for his quiet strength, his generous spirit, and the enduring love he shared with all those fortunate enough to know him.
Visitation is Friday, January 30, 2026 at Indianapolis Southside Seventh Day Adventist Church, 4801 Shelbyville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46237 from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm.
