Sally Ann Hacker passed away peacefully in her home on June 17, 2025, after a courageous battle with Chronic Lymphatic Leukemia. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Sally is survived by her devoted husband, Steve Hacker; her beloved sons, Thomas and Gregory Gillespie; her stepson, Brad (Ericka) Hacker; her sister, Susan Rodgers; and her brother, Doug Spencer.
Sally was an extraordinary wife and a devoted mother—not just to her own boys, but to countless others whose lives she touched throughout her 35 years in education at Center Grove. She served as a Teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal, HR Director, and Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum. In every role, she led with compassion, courage, and her signature blend of kindness, sarcasm, and unconditional love.
She gave generously of herself, not only to her family but to every student, colleague, and friend whose life she touched. Her presence, strength, and unwavering support were her greatest gifts. Her legacy lives on in the values she instilled in her family and the lives she helped shape across the community.
Sally will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
A public celebration of Sally’s life will be held on a later date.
In place of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Sally A. Hacker Memorial Scholarship. More information on how to contribute will be shared soon.
