Sally Jean Garriott (née Loder), a cherished wife, mother, sister, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026, in Rushville, Indiana. Born on July 1, 1951, in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, Sally lived a life marked by devotion to her family and faith.
Sally is survived by her husband, Donald "Pappy" Garriott; daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" Self (David Stephens); son, Douglas "Doug" and wife Kimberly "Kim" (Welter) Garriott; sister, Victoria (Loder) and husband Donald Stephens; mother-in-law, Geraldine (Willard) (Garriott) Gaskill; brother-in-law, David Cooksey; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Jan Garriott, Mark and Edie Garriott, Dennis and Karen Garriott; grandchildren, Kaelee (Garriott) and husband Terry Warrick, Melodie (Garriott) and husband Brian Hall, Isaac Arueyingho, Dakota Northern; great grandson, Raylan Hall; nieces, Amanda, Kimberly, Angela, Alley; nephews, Jeff, Ryan, Brent; and many great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Catherine (Carmen) Loder; sister, Nancy (Loder) Cooksey; father-in-law, Delmar Garriott; step father-in-law, Paul Gaskill and niece, Kris.
Sally enjoyed mushroom hunting and playing with all animals. When she was much younger she had a alligator named Mr. Lagoon and a squirrel named Pee Tree.
A visitation to honor the life of Sally Jean Garriott will be held on April 7, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the First Southern Baptist Church, located at 1159 S Airport Rd, Rushville, Indiana. Following this, a funeral service will commence at 12:00 p.m. at the same location, allowing family and friends to gather in remembrance and celebration of her life. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Fountaintown Cemetery, 147 E. Brookville Road, Fountaintown, Indiana.
Sally’s life was one of gentle strength and unwavering dedication to those she loved. Her legacy is carried on through her devoted family and the many lives she touched. She will be remembered with respect and profound affection by all who had the privilege to know her.
