Ruth Ann Belangee-Miller

June 5, 1947 — June 2, 2020

Ruth Ann (Belangee) Miller of Carmel, Indiana, born June 5, 1947 who unexpectedly passed away a couple days before her 73rd birthday. She was born in Litchfield, Illinois, the daughter of Virgil and Mercedes Belangee, who preceded her in death, along with step mother, Marilyn (Peters) Belangee.

Ruth graduated from Taylorville, Illinois High School. She began dating her future husband in 1963, when they were introduced at the Manners Park Swimming Pool. Ruth and Leslie Miller were married, April 11, 1968. Ruth is survived by her husband, son Bryan and Kim, grandchildren Gavin and Lauren of Noblesville, Indiana; son Eric and Annie, grandchildren Collin and Ella of Fishers, Indiana. She is also survived by step brothers, Mark and Sharon Peters of Taylorville, Illinois and Brad and Bridget Peters of Monticello, Illinois along with 4 nieces and nephews.

Shortly after high school, Ruth began work as a secretary for 4 years. In 1968 she agreed, although with no experience to become the Chief Operating Officer for the Miller Family. She took her new role seriously carrying it out with much love, hard work and passion. The results are born out by the men she raised, cared for and at times “set straight”, while her husband was often away attending meetings and traveling for work. Her confident leadership was exemplified by commenting occasionally, “We were getting along fine before you came home”. Sometimes a partner needs to hear it like it is. She was a Cub Scout Pack Leader in Leroy, Illinois and an officer in the Carmel Football Moms Club. She managed the family and household through 8 moves, sometimes driving a dog, turtle and catfish along with 2 sons to the new home to meet the moving van.

Ruth knew who to call to remove a 2 yr. old’s foot from underneath a dishwasher. She was there to answer the call from the school that her son hurt his arm playing on the monkey bars. She attended and cheered for the teams of numerous baseball, basketball and football games along with track meets and band competitions. Her hours and miles of driving sons to various practices and activities would put an Uber driver to shame. After caring for a household full of boys, Ruth became affectionately known as Grammy to her 4 grandchildren. She always found reason to connect with them attending sporting events, school events and shopping or any other activity they were involved in. She was rewarded with the hugs and kisses of grandkids loving their Grammy. She did this with only the love and passion a wife, mother and grammy can have for her family.

A private visitation will be held Tuesday, June 9th at Indiana Funeral Care of Indianapolis, Indiana. Prayers and kind thoughts are most appreciated.
