Russell D. Cable was born in Astoria, IL. He was one of six children. He was preceded in death by his 2 brothers: Raymond and David. He is survived by 3 wonderful sisters: Ruth Hatton, Mary Wolf and Anita (Dale) Brubaker. Also survived by 2 children: Brad (Kim) Cable and Bonita (Steve) Husted, and 4 grandchildren: Megan Husted, Ryan (Jonni) Husted, Chad Husted, Grant (Melissa) Husted, and 2 great granddaughters: Josie Husted and Hannah Husted. He is also survived by his wife of 28 years Marta Cable and her 2 children: Marcus (Sarah) Bowling and Sarah (Erik) Sorensen, and 5 step grandchildren: Benjamin, George and Beau Bowling and Grace and Ava Sorensen.
On July 13th, 1980, Russ accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. Soon thereafter the Lord called him to be an integral part of launching a singles ministry at East 91st Street Christian Church called Jericho Road Ministries (JRM). Over the span of many years this Bible based ministry became the catalyst for spiritual growth and many marriages.
Professionally he worked in management consulting, real estate and insurance. He learned to fly at age 27 and enjoyed that as a hobby. He never lost his passion for aviation.
After retirement he volunteered for The Good Samaritan Network which helps impoverished people in Hamilton County.
