Rudolph Lionel Williams, (Big Slats), was born on July 26, 1939, to Cary and Lucille Brown, being the only boy of 6, whom all preceded him in death. Slats/Rudy accepted the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at an early age.
Slats received his education in the Indianapolis Public School systems after graduating from Arsenal Tech.
Mr. Williams joined the United States Army and fathered several children. Upon returning from the service, Mr. Williams started trucking, which landed him a job at “Metro” doing city transit where he met his wife, Ann, of 43 years. From that marriage came three children, Rudolph Jr., Kala, and Kara.
Mr. Williams was a jack of all trades and whatever he did he did well, but trucking was really his passion. His favorite snacks were Hershey bars with almonds, vanilla ice cream, and Pepsi. He loved listening to the blues, fishing, working on cars, as well as hanging with his friends and family. During his alone time, he enjoyed playing solitaire.
Mr. Williams departed his life on March 13, 2026, at the age of 86 years old He was preceded in death by his parents, and all of his siblings.
Mr. Williams leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Ann; their three children, Lil’ Slats, Kala, Kara; with a host of children and grandchildren.
