Ronald Lewis Huber, 65, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025 at Franciscan Health hospital in Indianapolis. Ronald was known by many as “Ron,” affectionately by others as “Ronnie,” and by his congenial personality and infectious laugh.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie Huber (nee Wilson), in 2013, and his father, Alfred Huber, in 2018. He is survived by his brother Mike (Kim) Huber; sister Lori Rainbolt (nee Huber); his nieces and nephews, Layla, Michael (Sara), Kyle (Megan), Natalie (Jeff), Lisa (Tomm), and Bethany (Kyle); 2 great nephews, and 3 great nieces. He loved all creatures, including his cat, Tibet, who preceded him in death and left an imprint on Ron's heart.
Ron enjoyed nature, reading, music, and watching football, the History channel, and The Andy Griffith Show. He was an introspective person, always willing to learn, and stayed informed by listening to his handheld radio every night. He even taught himself about the constellations. He loved visiting Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and the beach.
Ron had the ability to make others smile and laugh, and while he lived much of his life privately, he made friends easily. He connected with those he loved, provided an attentive listening ear, and often gave his opinion freely and unapologetically. At family gatherings, he could be seen with a camera in hand, reading the newspaper, and handling out scratch-off tickets to everyone at Christmas. He was a gentle and kind soul who could relate to adults and children alike.
Ron put up a good, long fight in the last few years of his life and held out for those loved ones around him as long as he could. He will be greatly missed, celebrated for the person he was, and thought of fondly for countless years to come.
A celebration of life for Ron will be held at a date still to be determined.
