Ronald Gene Baunach passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Saturday, November 15, at the age of 74. Born in 1951 in Lafayette, Indiana, to Clarence and Mary Baunach, Ronald grew up surrounded by family and the values that shaped the man he became. He graduated from Wolcott High School and proudly enlisted in the United States Army.
Ronald retired from Wabash National after more than 20 years of dedicated service. He later worked at Diener Seeds in Reynolds, Indiana. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life—watching westerns, cooking for those he loved, tending to his garden, fishing whenever he got the chance, and playing euchre. Ronald had a special fondness for collecting John Deere and M&M memorabilia. Above all, he cherished time with his family and adored his corgis, Bear and Shyloh, along with his beloved “fur grandpups.”
He was a devoted husband and father. On July 31, 1976, Ronald married the love of his life, Tammy (Hayden), beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love, humor, and unwavering support.
Ronald is survived by his two children: Jeremy Baunach and his spouse, Sarah, of Buffalo, Indiana; and Brandy Baunach of Monticello, Indiana. He was a proud grandfather to Javin Jacob Baunach, Madelyn Ann Baunach, and Mason Reese Baunach, each of whom brought immense joy to his life.
He also leaves behind several siblings: David Baunach (Carol) of Crown Point, Indiana; Barb Baunach (Edward Mau) of North Judson, Indiana; Richard Baunach (Wanda) of Rensselaer, Indiana; and Patricia (Baunach) Musser of Wolcott, Indiana, as well as many nieces and nephews whom he cared for deeply.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
