Ron J. Patterson, a cherished member of his community and a devoted family man, passed away on August 29, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana, at the age of 74. Born on June 12, 1951, in Kankakee, Illinois, Ron lived a life rich in love, laughter, and unwavering commitment to those around him.
Throughout his distinguished career, Ron served as the Vice President of Fifth Third Bank, following a 40-year journey in finance that began at American Fletcher National Bank in 1978. His remarkable expertise and dedication to his profession were matched only by his charismatic personality. Known for his sarcastic wit and intelligence, Ron had an innate ability to make others smile and laugh, creating a welcoming atmosphere for all who crossed his path. A selfless man at heart, he was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Education held a significant place in Ron's life; he attended Olivet Nazarene University and the University of Indianapolis, where he laid the foundation for a successful career. His passion for learning continued throughout his life, influencing not only his professional endeavors but also his personal interests.
In addition to his career, Ron was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, where his faith played a fundamental role in shaping his character and values. His love for music and sports—both watching and playing—enriched his life and fostered connections with friends and family alike, which he passed down to his children and grandchildren.
Ron leaves behind a loving family who will carry his memory in their hearts. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jan L. (Arthur) Patterson; his children, Miranda (Stephen) Brown, Jeremy Patterson, and Rebecca (Marcus) Sugg; and grandchildren Kieran, Aurielle, and Elijah, who brought immense joy to his life. He also leaves behind a stepmother, Lenore Patterson, cherished niece Charlotte Francis, and nephew Kevin (Kasey) Francis, extending the network of family dedicated to honoring his legacy.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Leon "Pat" and Colleen Patterson, whose influence instilled in him the values that guided his life. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Bernetta "Bernie" (David) Francis, who shared a bond with him that spanned their lifetime.
A visitation will be held on September 3, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service celebrating Ron's life at 2:00 PM., both at One Christian Church in Greenwood, IN. A graveside service will take place at Forest Lawn Memory Garden in Greenwood on September 5, 2025, at 12:45 PM.
