Roger Lee Sanders

Roger Lee Sanders, a cherished member of the Indianapolis and Greenwood communities and a dedicated union worker, passed away on March 7, 2026. Born on June 7, 1956, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Roger lived a life marked by service, humor, and a deep love for his family and friends.

Roger graduated from Lawrence Central in 1974 before pursuing higher education at Ivy Tech, where he earned an associate's degree. His commitment to serving his country was exemplified by his time in the Air Force, further highlighting his dedication and sense of duty. Professionally, Roger was known for his work with the Heat and Frost Insulators Union with Local 18, where he contributed significantly to his trade and maintained strong bonds with his co-workers.

Beyond his career, Roger was a man who embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. He had an infectious sense of humor and was known for his love of laughter and playful pranks shared among friends, family, and colleagues. His leisure hours were filled with activities that brought him happiness, including playing cards at the Moose Lodge, bowling, golfing, fantasy football, coaching baseball, and spending time at the Greenwood Little League.

Roger’s family remembered him with great affection. He is survived by his sons, Matt Sanders and Mark (Jacy) Sanders; his daughter, Molly Hook; his siblings, Debbie Farmer, Mike Sanders, and Greg Sanders; and a beloved circle of grandchildren: Elias, Daniel, Kevin, Elliot, Griffin, Makayla, Savanna, Scarlett, and Ava. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eva Toombs, and his father, Roger D. Sanders.

A visitation to honor Roger's life will be held on April 9, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Indiana Funeral Care - Greenwood Chapel, located at 2433 E. Main St., Greenwood, IN 46143. Following the visitation, a memorial service will take place at the same location from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Roger Lee Sanders will be remembered as a devoted family man, a committed worker, and a spirit whose laughter and kindness touched the lives of many. His legacy of love, service, and humor will continue to inspire many who knew him.
