Roderick J Macy (Rod), age 92 of Indianapolis, Indiana passed peacefully in his sleep the morning of Friday August 7, 2026. He was known for his humor and always had a joke to cheer you or an ear to listen to many friends and family. He had many jobs over his lifetime and was always involved and driving to different happenings. He was a retired Sergeant with the Indiana State Police then retired as Director of Office Services for Simon Property Group in 1998. Never one to sit still, he took on a role with the Indiana Charity Gaming Commission until his 80's. He served his community by volunteering as a Stevens Minister with St. Luke's United Methodist Church, a member of the Marion County Library Board and Indiana Board of Corrections. He attended Indiana and Butler Universities. He also kept in touch with his Howe High School graduates as often as possible and was an unforgettable character at his home in Crestwood Village North lending assistance to his many friends and often winning at Bingo.Memorial Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Luke's United Methodist Church or Brebeuf Jesuit School both in Indianapolis on 86th Street. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Jean Marie Macy (Chandler) and survived by son Eric R. Macy, daughter Dr. Julie Marie Towle (Macy) and granddaughter Sara Marie Towle (Tomba). A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Luke's United Methodist Church on 86th Street on Friday August 14th from 5-7 with an informal service at 6 pm.
