Bob Pychinka, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, coach, teacher, and friend passed away peacefully with his wife and daughter at his side along with his loyal dog Rossi at home. Bob was born to Michael and Lucille Pychinka on 4/6/1945 in Allentown Pa. Bob grew up in the city of Allentown Pa of which he was very proud to be from the inner city. He went to St Francis School followed by Wm Allen High School where he excelled as a star athlete in both football and wrestling.He was recruited by Indiana State University and excelled again in both wrestling and football being a captain on both teams during his career. He joined the TKE fraternity where he made life long friends. He was named in Who’s Who in universities 1966-67. He earned his undergraduate, masters degree, education specialist degree, and his PhD from ISU.His teaching, administrative, and coaching career spanned 4 decades. He was an assistant football coach at ISU, football coach at Cathedral High School, football and wrestling coach at Rushville High School as an administrator and assistant wrestling coach at Triton Central High School. He was a great mentor to his students. He loved watching these young men and women develop into adults. He always loved hearing from them later in life.He was married in 1968 to his wife Beth whom he met while teaching and coaching in Rushville. He was the proud father to Beth Anne Pychinka (married to Brian Dockter) and proud grandfather to Julian and Ryder whom he loved from the minute they were born.He is the brother to Linda Krepak (Jerry), Jeanne Reese, David Pychinka (Robin), Joe Pychinka, Rose Long (Mike), uncle to many nieces and nephews. Brother in law to James Ringenberg (Jeanette), Merrily.He was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Lucille Pychinka, Michael and Jean Pychinka and Dennis Pychinka, and brother in law Bill Reese.He had a passion for education, he loved teaching, and continuing his own education. He was inducted into the ISU athletic hall of fame after his retirement and served on the alumni board at ISU.
His loves were his family, watching college and NFL football, playing golf, keeping himself in shape, and his lifelong friends.
He always said “A man’s reach should exceed his grasp” and enjoyed The poem “The Man in The Arena”Bob was a positive guy, very social, and loved a good argument with friends.
