Robert Pollock, Sr.

Reverend Robert Pollock, Sr. passed away August 16th at Otterbein Senior Life Center in Franklin, IN. where he resided. He was 90 years old.  

He is survived by his brother Reverend James Pollock (Betty Lou), children Bob Jr (Kelli), David (Jenny), Doug (Jennifer), Chad Pollock (Heather), and Diane Anderson (Vince). Mother of his children Janet Pollock, 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Reverend Henry and Marguerite Pollock, brothers Francis, Reverend Henry, Chaplin US Army and Reverend Charles. 

Born in Addison PA, raised in western Pennsylvania, he attended Asbury College and graduated from DePauw University with a BA degree. Bob also held degrees from the Christian Theological Seminary (MA) and the University of Evansville (MA). 

Over his career he served as a pastor in numerous churches of the United Methodist Church in Indiana and Illinois. From 1970-1975 he was the Dean of Students at the University of Evansville, taking a leave of absence from the church. After returning to ministry in Illinois, he was appointed Executive Director of the United Methodist Village. 

Throughout his life there were many proud moments. He was instrumental on many building projects including - several church expansions, the United Methodist Village in Godfrey, IL, and the Temple Hills Retreat Center. He was a big fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. An accomplished musician, along with his fellow pastor brothers, they formed the Pollock Brothers Quartet. They recorded several CDs and performed at revivals across the country singing gospel music. Finally, he was most proud of his children, who loved him dearly. 

The family wants to thank the staff at Otterbein Franklin and Brighton Hospice for their support and care for Dad. 

Visitation will be 2pm Central time Friday September 1, 2023 at The Methodist Temple 2109 Lincoln Avenue, Evansville, IN 47714 with a memorial service at 3pm. 

Memorial contributions can be made to Temple Hills in care of The Methodist Temple in Bob’s name.
