Robert ‘Bob’ Ray Lyden was born on May 24, 1942, and went to be with the Lord on April 23, 2026.
Bob passed away after a short battle with lung cancer and other critical health conditions.
Bob had many careers over the span of his life, but the position he held as foreman at Chrysler was what he was the proudest. In the years following, Bob owned a sandwich and coffee truck delivering to local businesses, he was an independent Snap-On tool dealer and a truck driver for many years.
Bob was a member of the Hope Baptist Church on the westside of Indianapolis and was quite active in the many ministries there. He was an usher, co-coordinator of the Hope Food Pantry, and a member of the Central Indiana Minute Men. He also enjoyed serving the Hope men at monthly breakfasts. Bob was also known at Hope for starting the Long’s Bakery ministry where he prepped and delivered donuts on Sunday mornings.
When he wasn’t working or serving, Bob enjoyed watching midget car racing on tv or attending races at various tracks.
Bob is survived by his wife of 26 years, Dee Lyden; his nephew, Rodney Lyden; and his stepchildren and grandchildren, other nephews, nieces and family members and friends that will miss him dearly.
In lieu of flowers, please consider performing an unexpected act of kindness to someone in need or a memorial donation can be made to Hope Baptist Church.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Brighton Hospice for their compassionate care, and we are forever grateful to the friends and neighbors who showered Bob with love and care during his final weeks.
