Robert Lafe "Bob" Coram February 17, 1937 – May 5, 2026

Robert Lafe "Bob" Coram, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away on May 5, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on February 17, 1937, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Bob lived a life full of creativity, laughter, and the kind of storytelling that made everyone around him lean in a little closer.

A proud Indianapolis native, Bob graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1955 and went on to build a remarkable 40-year career at Herff Jones, one of the city's most storied companies. Starting as an artist and illustrator, he grew into a manager and ultimately creative director — a career that reflected both his natural talent and his dedication to his craft. His artistic eye and inventive spirit were with him until the end.

Having grown up without much, Bob was determined that his children would have every opportunity he didn't. He made sure they had good clothes on their backs, proper shoes on their feet, and the sports equipment they needed to compete. He invested in their educations and never missed a school function or a sporting event — not because he had to, but because showing up for his kids was simply who he was. When he retired in 1996, he didn't slow down — he just turned that same devotion toward his grandchildren, showing up for them with the same love, presence, and generosity he had always given their parents.

But it was his personality that people will remember most. Bob was quick-witted, genuinely funny, and always had a story ready — the kind that made you laugh even if you'd heard it before. He had a gift for making people feel at ease, and a room was simply more animated when he was in it.

Bob is survived by his five children: Robert Lafe Coram II (Kathy), Steve Coram, Cathy DaPuzzo (James), Joe Coram (Erin Irick), and Jenni Pepito (Troy); his sisters Arlene Sue Stapert, Donna Ritchie, and Linda Baker (Steve); 13 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters Jacqueline Harris and Mardena Sauter, and his parents, Forrest Lafe Coram and Charlotte Coram.

Per Bob's wishes, there will be no visitation.

Congratulations, Dad, on a life well lived. You will be deeply missed.
