Rictor Bryce Bourn

As the famous boxer Muhammad Ali once said, "Don't count the days, make the days count" and that's just what Rictor Bryce Bourn did. Rick was born on January 17, 1948 in Davenport, Iowa. He was the second child of Claude and Lucy Bourn. Growing up as a middle child, Rick knew how to keep them laughing while stirring up quite a bit of trouble. After high school Rick joined the Army and became a veteran of the Vietnam War. Upon his discharge Rick earned his Associates in the Arts degree from Palmer Jr. College. Rick worked at many places through the years including the old Farmall Works plant, Oscar Mayer, and Navistar (now International Motors) where he finally retired in 2007.

Those who knew Rick best knew that his favorite thing ever was fishing, although having a cold Miller Lite wasn't far behind. Whether it was a river, lake, or ocean he fished them all, and usually had the bounty to show for it often using it to make his "world famous fish." In his younger years, Rick also enjoyed playing on a pool league and earned many trophies. He also loved riding his Harley Davidson, using it for an almost whole cross country trip with his best friend and wife, Robin, whom he married in 2002. One of Rick's proudest moments was with Muhammad Ali, which he often recounted to great aclaim and led to a once in a lifetime picture. Often Rick could be found in his recliner watching football, basketball, or baseball with his cat Archie sitting in his lap. Rick also loved being with his family and they will miss his infectious humor and even his stubborn hard headedness.

Rick's days came to an end on July 28th after a long battle with cancer. Per his wishes there will be no memorial service.

Rick is survived by his extremely patient wife Robin of Greenwood, IN, son Rick Jr. and first wife Becky Bourn of Lake Balboa,CA, his daughter Amanda (Andrew) Jensen of Clinton, IA, sister Lucene (Mark) Mitchell of Davenport, IA, granddaughers Lucy and Miranda Jensen of Clinton, IA and many nieces and nephews who will never forget his impeccable Donald Duck impression. He was preceeded in death by his parents, second wife Jill Privoznik, and his brother Rod Bourn.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, or any charity that helps disabled veterans. Fly high Rick, and as he would say FDT.
