Richard “Rick” Westgate, born October 3, 1958, in Crown Point, Indiana, passed away on September 28th, 2026. He was a longtime resident of Indiana and lived a life marked by steady dedication, hard work, and the quiet pride that came from doing his job well. Rick will be remembered with affection by those who knew him and valued the years he shared with family and friends and colleagues.
Rick pursued his education at Ball State and went on to build a meaningful career as a maintenance tech. He devoted 31 years to Roche Diagnostics in Indianapolis, Indiana where his long service reflected both commitment and reliability. His work was an important part of his life and many years at Roche Diagnostics stand as a lasting reflection of his professional dedication.
Outside of work Rick found enjoyment in traveling and followed sports with interest. He also enjoyed golfing and fishing, pastimes that gave him time for relaxation and simple enjoyment. These interests were part of the life he made for himself and memories he leaves behind.
Rick is survived by his partner of 25 years, Jodi Harder, brother Steve Westgate and his wife Lori, his sister Roxanne Helding and her husband Dave; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Robert; his mother Lucille; his brothers Dave and Larry; nephew Nicholas. Though he is no longer here, Rick’s memory will remain with those who knew and loved him, carried forward through the life he lived and the connections he leaves behind.
A celebration of life will be at Castleton Farms community in the clubhouse at 7520 E. 75th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana on Sunday, October 25th from 1:00pm – 4:00pm.
