Richard Eugene McVicker, 83, of Indianapolis, Indiana went to be with the Lord on July 7, 2023 after a 30-month battle with cancer. He was born on May 5, 1940 to Otto and Helen McVicker.

He grew up in Muncie, Indiana, and graduated from Central Senior High School in June, 1958. He graduated with a vocational training emphasis in Drafting. After graduation, he lived briefly in California before returning to Indiana.

He married Phyllis Dobbs on November 11, 1961 and lived in and around Indianapolis all their married lives and raised their sons, Tod and Bryan, there.

Richard was the third child in a family of four children. He was a talented draftsman and creator. He had several patents in his career and was constantly designing/creating art. In retirement, he even started a small company with his design for a guitar pick and traveled to many bluegrass festivals.

Richard was very involved at his church, Foundation Life Bible Church, participating and leading many men's groups. He established godly friendships that lasted his lifetime. Richard and Phyllis entertained their friends at their home often and made a special effort to get to know new people at church and took them to lunch. Richard also was active with a bluegrass community called Song Farmers.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis; his two brothers, Jerry and Jim; his sister, Martha; along with his parents, Otto and Helen.
