Richard (Dick) Allen McClure, 95, of Indianapolis, formerly of Fishers, IN passed away on October 6,2026 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital. He was born on January 12,1931 to the late Noble James McClure and Olivia Christine (Peterson) McClure in Indianapolis, IN.
After graduating from Broad Ripple High School, he went to serve his country in the Korean War in the United States Army. He was enlisted from 1951 through 1953, when he was honorably discharged. He returned home to marry his fiancé, Dolores Hayes. They had two sons, Kevan and Kerry McClure. He worked for the Hayes Brothers as a construction site supervisor, estimator, and was promoted to Vice President. They later divorced.
It was later when he created, owned and operated The Chill Company to become a Manufacturer’s Representative for multiple companies. Dick then met and married his lifelong love, Martha Jeannette “Jeannie” (Canary) McClure April 2, 1972. With Jeannie, he added two more bonus children in his life. Peggy Allen and David Trent. Dick cherished every moment with Jeannie, and enjoyed over fifty wonderful years together, raising their blended family, taking beautiful houseboat trips with friends and family at Geist Marina and Aurora, IN. They loved floating on the water, fireworks in Cincy, spending time with friends laughing and telling stories. They also took multiple trips with the grandchildren.
Dick eventually retired from the Chill Company in 2012.
When Jeannie became ill, Dick was by her side every step of the way, caring for her and loving her. He was truly a remarkable caregiver. Sadly, Jeannie preceded him in death in December 2023.
Dick was a loving son, brother, soldier, husband, father, uncle, Papaw and friend to many. He never knew a stranger and was always willing to pitch in and help for whatever reason. He loved God, family, the USA, reading the bible, discussing religion, lineage, and historical facts. He loved anything patriotic; it was in his soul. He once built a terrific fort for the kids named appropriately "FORT KID” and even had a ceremony for the grandkids. That was just Dick. Always happy with a joke up his sleeve.
Dick was a member of many organizations over his lifetime, Member of E91st Church, 33rd Degree Mason, Kiwanis Club, Fishers Troop 109 Cub & Boy Scouts leader, Toastmasters, VFW, American Legion, Indianapolis Sailing Club, Indianapolis Yacht Club and US Power Squadron. Dick and his brothers, The Band of Brothers, had the opportunity to go to Washington, DC with Indy Honor Flight, He also loved to do speeches and ride in parades!
Dick is survived by his sons, Kevan McClure (Cindy), Kerry McClure, and stepson David Trent (Kari Beth) and step- daughter Peggy Allen (Chad), five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents and lovely wife Jeannie, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James (Wendy) McClure, Robert (Barbara) McClure, sister Sara Ashcraft (Bill) and daughter in law, Brenda McClure (Kerry)
