Richard Franklin Brinsley passed away on January 13, 2026 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Richard was born on January 4, 1949 in Springfield, Ohio to Franklin Jay and Mable Leona (Williams) Brinsley. He married Susan Yvonne Boyles on February 3, 1970 in Wheaton, Maryland. He graduated from Nazarene Bible College and MidAmerica Nazarene University with a degree in Biblical Studies. He later earned a Masters in Pastoral Care from Olivet Nazarene University.

Richard served in the Marine Core for 4 years, and he was deployed to Vietnam for 13 months as a MASH unit ambulance driver. He then served another 4 years in the Air Force as an aircraft electrician. After his military service, Richard worked as an ordained minister in the Church of the Nazarene for 19 years before becoming a Hospital / Hospice Chaplain for another 8 years. Richard was a member of the Association of Professional Chaplains as well as a lifetime member of the Vietnam Veterans of America.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Franklin Jay and Mable Leona (Williams) Brinsley; two sisters, Patricia Phelps and Sharon Combs.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Yvonne (Boyles); two children, Franklin (Allison) and Stephanie (Jason); and four grandchildren, Samuel, Charles, Brennan, and Bailey.

Funeral arrangements are handled by Indiana Funeral Care East.

In Lieu of flowers, any memorials may be given to Wounded Warriors of America.
