Rhonda Townsend

Rhonda Townsend, a devoted woman of faith, family, and service, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026 at the age of 65.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, on January 19, 1961 to the late Ralph and Geraldine Townsend and beloved sister to the late Ralph Townsend Jr and Rodney (Sharon) Townsend. Rhonda’s faith was the cornerstone of who she was – dedication to helping others and her love for gatherings. It shaped the way she loved, served and showed up for others every single day.

Rhonda’s early years were spent in Michigan before she made homes in Brunswick and Medina, Ohio. Most recently, she resided in Greenwood, Indiana, a move prompted her to be closer to dear friends. It was here, surrounded by her chosen community, that she embraced her retirement after a distinguished career in nursing.

Rhonda is survived by her devoted sister-in-law, Sandy Townsend, wife of her late brother, Ralph; three cherished nieces, Janet Townsend, Jackie (Brett) Todd, Rebekah Townsend and two great-nieces, Alyana Stephens and Brooklyn Todd who brought her immeasurable joy and pride. She was a constant source of encouragement, wisdom, and unconditional love in their lives.

Rhonda was also blessed with many treasured friendships — truly too many to name — whose lives were enriched by her loyalty and warmth. The family would especially like to recognize Deborah Reed, Frank Mollica, Susi Mollica, and Deborah Braun who were steadfast friends and always there when it mattered most.

Her legacy is one of faith, compassion, service, and deep love for family and friends. She will be remembered for her gentle strength, her generous heart, and the quiet but powerful way she made others feel seen and cared for.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Visitation and service - Indiana
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 17, at Life Change Church - 2528 US 31 S., Greenwood, IN 46143. Visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., followed by a service from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. A meal and time of fellowship will be shared at the church immediately following the service.

A visitation will also be held at Carlson Funeral Home - 1642 Pearl Rd. Brunswick, OH 44212. Additional details regarding the Ohio service will be announced once arrangements are finalized.
