Rebecca Jane (Cassell) Ravine, 80, of Carmel, Indiana passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026. She was born in Troy, Ohio on September 6, 1945 to Merlin E. Cassell and Jane Plunkett Cassell, and was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Rebecca grew up in Fort Wayne, Indiana where she was a lifelong resident until recently. Rebecca attended Indiana University Bloomington and IPFW Fort Wayne, completing her degree. Her career spanned multiple fields including banking, finance, non-profit and public service. Rebecca’s successful banking career included roles such as Assistant Vice President Mortgage Loan Department and Assistant Vice President Personnel Department for Anthony Wayne Bank, Fort Wayne. She served as Vice President of the Small Business Division for the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce and was also elected to the Fort Wayne City Council as an At-Large Councilwoman serving 12 years.
Rebecca was a lifelong learner and received a Foundations of Banking Diploma, American Institute of Banking and completed Institutes for Organization Management from the University of Notre Dame. Rebecca was a certified meeting planner and learned beginning and intermediate sign language. Rebecca graduated from the Richard G. Lugar Excellence in Public Service Series and Leadership Fort Wayne.
Rebecca believed strongly in public service and volunteering and actively participated in numerous civic and professional organizations. Some include Fort Wayne Sister Cities Committee Board, National Association of Banking, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Goodwill Industries Board, Friends of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Board, Leukemia Society of America, March of Dimes, Junior Achievement, Goodwill Industries Board and United Way of Allen County.
Rebecca was an avid traveler and had a passion and curiosity for people and cultures. She loved singing and music, water skiing, sailing, the arts, reading, and gardening. Rebecca will be remembered for her love of family, strong faith in God, quick wit, and dedication to her community.
Rebecca is survived by her daughter, Kim Berry, Carmel, Indiana and grandsons Ian Berry (Caroline), Indianapolis, Indiana and Colin Berry, Noblesville, Indiana, brothers Joe Cassell (Andrea) Greensboro, Georgia and Jim Cassell (Marilyn) Leesburg, Indiana.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026 at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46250 with the visitation beginning at 1pm and service at 3pm.
The best way to remember and honor Rebecca is to have faith, to travel, to read, to serve your community and to experience the arts.
